iPhone 4 has already reached Singapore and is available in all Telcos on 30th July 2010. Tech65 is lucky to be invited by SingTel to attend the media event. Since this is island wide launch, we will try to cover how different telco organise to cater to Apple iPhone 4 supporters and their loyal customers.
We arrived at our first destination at Paragon at M1 iPhone 4 launch, there is a huge crowd queuing around Paragon. M1 has organised well in arranging their queue system. There is mecce, live band and some dance performances for the huge crowd of about 500 customers or more, mainly at the open area.
Moving on into Paragon where the early birds settle for comfort in the cooling air-condition place.
It is a petty that their customer is unable to get the best of both worlds. Early birds gets to enjoy the air-con but without entertainment and the rest of the customers gets to enjoy the live band and entertainment but suffering from the humid warm air. It is still pretty well arrange.
Next, we arrived at Plaza Singapura Starhub iPhone 4 launch, it is unusually quiet. We are expecting a large crowd queuing up for the iPhone 4 launch but it looks pretty empty. It is iPhone 4 launch and how can it be so quiet? We thought we got the location wrong.
As we were checking out, we managed to spot a queuing area in a dim corner, and there are about 100 persons in the queue. As replied from Starhub personnel, only invited customers were called for the private event and were asked to come at different time slot.
In my opinion, Plaza Singapura has such a big open space and Starhub is not making full use of it to make perhaps a resting place or some entertainment for their loyal supporters.
Anyway, we took a bus to Marina Bay Sands for SingTel iPhone 4 Launch. When we arrived, it seems like there aren’t many people (but we were wrong). According to the spoke person, this is the later batch of the queue. At least they are seated in a cooling area.
As we proceed into the main arena, there is a verification booth to verify that attendees are the invited customers and they will be given a queue number. After that they can enter the arena and visit any iPhone 4 SingTel personnel and enquire more features of iPhone 4. There is also a 24 hours live band as well as a accessories booth where they can purchase screen protector, iPhone 4 casing, etc.
As the waiting time is very long, SingTel has also prepared drinks and nice comforting seating area for them.
The live band even played piano on iPhone 4, which is wonderful.
I feel that SingTel has done a good job for iPhone 4 launch. It is very well plan and SingTel really value their customers. My initial thought of going to Marina Bay Sands is very negative as it is pretty far and inaccessible without a transport especially when it is a mid night launch. However when I entered into the arena, I feel that it definitely worth the trip.
From speaking with one of the staff, he said SingTel choose Marina Bay Sands to prepare themselves from the rain.
Speaking of the rain, it is raining heavily yesterday morning. I hope M1 and Starhub had secondary plans for their customers queuing.

“I saw that you checked in there on Foursquare,” said the stranger calling the restaurant where Shea Sylvia was dining. He suggested they “hang out,” adding, “You probably shouldn’t be telling people where you are on Foursquare, should you?”
This phrase caught my attention which makes me carry on reading the article – When Foursquare Gets Creepy.
I must say that I am still a noob in Social Media and is learning more about social media each day. Recently when I met up with my friends, they have been saying that I am very active on Facebook (they are mainly Facebook users) and I have been “reporting” my whereabouts.
It seems like they have been following my trail on where I go. They are my friends, so I don’t really mind them knowing my whereabouts. However, when it comes to people who I do not know, this might be an issue. I might not want to check into certain places to let people track me down. Like my home location, my usual hang out place, etc.
In my humble opinion, it will be safer to think through when we want to check into certain location. Stalkers will not let you know that they are stalking you. There might be some ulterior motive when they are stalking you. It is still better to be safe than sorry.
Also remember that nowadays many of us also share our information through different platforms like twitter which automatically publish to Facebook. So know who we are adding and communicating in our circle.

I love this prototype batteries, I hope it will be available in the market soon.
To put it simply, all we need to do is to just shake the batteries and it will generate enough voltage for your remote control, and other devices.
One thing to take note, please do not use it on alarm clock if you want to wake up on time.

Here’s something that guys might be interested to know.
Most of the companies or perhaps all the companies block www.playboy.com because they portray nudity and sexual content online. Likewise there are also many sources out there that contain nudity and sexual content that are not block. All these content is really inconvenient to “kill time” during work time. Now there is a new website that allows guys to catch the kinky stories happenings around @ http://www.thesmokingjacket.com/.
Rest assure that there is no nudity content and it is safe to view it in office just like any other website.
The content in it is more like Singapore FHM (For Him Magazine) containing stories, tips and tricks, etc etc etc…
PS: Good things must share, and here you go. Can even save money from buying FHM.
I’ve come across this passage in my lesson and feel that this passage is interesting, which I’m sharing below especially after lunch time, time for us to think a little.
You may know me
I’m your constant companion
I’m your greatest helper
I’m your heaviest burden
I will push you onward or drag you down to failure

Look at that! It is really impressive at the way the keyboard orientate to customize to user. I would love to be the beta tester to test out this software.
No wonder they called it Blind Type, typing without keyboard.

Starting from 2014, we can see more cycling paths and infrastructure to park bicycles in Singapore as $43 million fund will be use to improve Singapore cycling facilities.
More and more executives in the CBD are cycling to work. The cycling trend started picking up in 2007 and more bike boutiques started appearing in CBD that provides parking and bathing services.
This gives people an alternative transportation service instead of spending more money to squeeze with the crowd in MRT or BUS.
Below is a clip of how Copenhagen embrace bicycle as part of their life.
Voted the world’s most livable city in 2008, Copenhagen embraces bicycle culture as part of daily life with nearly 40 % of residents riding a bike to work.
Perhaps we should do our part in helping our earth to reducing pollution by embracing bicycle into our life. Will you incorporate bicycle as your form of transportation?

Apple holds an Press Conference to address its latest product iPhone 4 antennagate issue few days ago (16th July 2010). As many of us is aware that iPhone 4 drop calls and loses it reception signal when hold in a certain manner or a particular spot is contacted with human flesh. Strait Times has also published the news.
Apple has announce that they will be giving out a free case to all iPhone 4 users to protect the antenna from contacting. This is a very good marketing move and it benefits for iPhone 4 users.
However, this is a temporary solutions as the flaws of iPhone 4 is still there. With the free case, it will greatly reduce the antennagate issue but not to solve it entirely.
